Try taking a class on it or buying one of those language learning softwares for the computer. If you search for one on Amazon.com you could probably find a good one.

I took 3 and half years of Spanish in high school, but can’t really use it to communicate. It’s hard to learn a new language, even if you’re really into it. I suggest you pick up a few Spanish books to get started and then have some Spanish speakers you know help you. Although there are different dialects in Spanish (just as in any other language), don’t worry so much about that. If you know the basics of the language, you should be able to be understood fairly well. Good luck.

Immersion. Hang around some people who speak only Spanish

best way i know is to immerse yourself in it. see if you can find a way to spend time with some people your age who speak only spanish. bring a basic vocabulary book, and forget the fact that you start out knowing nothing. there is nothing that teaches you as fast or as effectively as necessity.
