If you search a world language top 5, Spanish would be the best choice.
But if you’re planning to travel to Europe, French would be the best choice. If you’re not going to Europe, Spanish might be the best choice.

You know, I think Spanish is the one - it opens all of South America to you as well as many other areas incuding Spain.
Just a point to note ( you probably know anyway) that American Spanish is different in pronunciation, grammar, slang and so on than Castillian ( European) Spanish. If your future career will be US based, you’ll want to write ( and sound) like your main customers.
If you’re choosing an online course this might be an important consideration…and there is some information.

I would say Spanish, as it is rapidly growing in the world, especially in the United States. You will use it more often than French (at least that has been my experience). Also, the grammatical system, though similar to that of the French language, is more simple in Spanish and does not vary as much.
